I'm the Youngest Wherever I Go
-
Everywhere I go, I always seem to be really young compared to most of my coworkers. The only exception to that rule has been Staples, for obvious reasons. Otherwise, I'm usually 7-10 years younger than the next closest-in-age person. I don't know why, but I take it as a good thing and that I'm way further ahead at the point I'm at in my life, than most people.
-
I had a coworker here at McAfee guess my age, and he said he was really good at it, and he guessed 28-32. Nope...not even close...
-
I should also add I'm almost always the tallest, or one of the tallest, wherever I go.
-
I think that lends to the misconception about my age.
-
AJ - I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you really enjoy hearing yourself talk, don't you?
I realize this sounds harsh, but I had to get it off my chest.
Unfortunately I can't tell where this post was posted (I'm assuming the water closet) but I really only see posts as they appear in the INBOX, so I find myself seeing posts that in other forums I'd normally miss entirely because they are in an area I wouldn't visit.
I would love for there to be a way to have the inbox only show the main threads that I want to subscribe to instead of every new post made on this forum.

I enjoy talking, yes. This was posted in Water Closet. You can always go to the group and see. I agree that I wish it didn't show everything in the Inbox. That is annoying. I just want threads I've posted on to show in my Inbox.

To answer your question though, I say what I have to say when it comes to mind. Sometimes that means multiple posts. Sometimes it means one or two long posts. It depends.

Enjoy being the young one. That luxury doesn't last forever

I'm not sure being the "baby" of the area is a good thing...
-
Well this shouldn't be weird. The average employee at the average company is ~ 45. Just think about it, it has to be.
If you are under 40 you feel like one of the young ones almost anywhere.
Being 21 you should be very young in any non-fast food joint. You are young. So being around people older than you is natural.

Fair enough. Still, I look at it as positive forward movement at an accelerated rate.
-
A highly accelerated rate, higher than normal 21-year-olds.

not to burst your self blown bubble, but you're kind of on the same track most of us went on and continue to follow. I was working for CSC at a NASA location when I was 19, those guys were all 55+ Heck my ITSM was almost 70!!! I dont really get the purpose of this thread, and i'm sorry that I generally come off as critical/cranky in your posts, i'm just generally rubbed the wrong way by your posts. They don't generally add much of anything to conversation. sometimes it's better to chill in the back of the room and observe. I'm not saying that i'm a superior individual, and I really have no idea why i'm posting this here...so i'm gonna stop and hit submit.

I'm sorry my posts rub you the wrong way. Not my intention.

In time......you won't be.
-
Yup just wait till you are old. Then you won't be young.
Just to expound on Bill's pronouncement.

Hmmm during my first year here at work i thought I'm the Youngest .
But today i am the oldest in our Department hahah.hahah. -
It can happen fast
I'm still young nearly anywhere that I work. I'm still at least 10 years younger than the average of my teams.
-
AJ,
I had the following certifications before I was 18:
MOS, A+, Network +, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, and CWNA.
So I was the young guy everywhere.
-
Why does age matter? I really don't see why it's even a topic of discussion (other than blowing your own horn). As long as you do your job and do it well without giving talk back no one cares what age you are outside of legal issues. (18 for some things, 21 for driving for work). When people label you as "old" is when you stop learning new things, become stubborn and hardheaded and that can happen to people at any age.
