Cloudflare help need re whether to proxy or not

@JasGot said in Cloudflare help need re whether to proxy or not:
I am setting up my first cloudflare account.
When I got to the DNS wizard, it pulled most but not all of my zone. (Not sure why it didn't pull all, so I added them to CF)
Here is my question: Since I only want one subdomain (publications.mydomain.com) cached, should I turn off proxy for all the other A, CNAME, and MX records?
Thanks.
What is the technical reason not to proxy?

There isn't one. I just don't want to jump in with all my eggs, until I see it working and have a better understanding about what is going on.
Our root domain and this subdomain are on seperate servers. I do not have any access to or control over the root domain server, so I was hoping to not include it in the CF caching.
Many of our A records are for services (Mail. FTP, etc) and not html web traffic. My desire is to only use it for the images on this subdomain.

@JasGot This Cloudflare KB should help: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200169626-Identifying-subdomains-compatible-with-Cloudflare-s-proxy

If you don't proxy, there's really no eggs. It's just.... a different DNS host. A better one, maybe, but all the functionality is in the proxy.
The rule for a long time has been that you always proxy unless you can't. If you can't demonstrate why you can't proxy, you should be proxied by default.

Speaking of, MeshCentral is able to be behind a CF Proxy as of today. So we just turned it on.

What changed with MC that it can now be proxied?

Thanks. This confirms I should only Proxy the one subdomain server I want to have cached.

Don't know, but that was the specific purpose of the 0.7.24 release yesterday.
