Do You Look Like a Real Business To Your Customers?
-
This is meant to be a discussion, not a guide. But this comes up a lot when talking to businesses and I thought that a lively discussion and collection of ideas would be good. So... what do I mean by the title? What I don't mean is back end business stuff like "is this a hobby business", that's important, but unrelated. What I'm looking for is... what things make customers and vendors see you and feel like you are a business (whether you are or not.) These are things that customers see, rather than employees. Examples... - A website (and a good one) that looks professional and loads quickly.
- A sensible URL
- Email that matches the URL of your website
- Company phone number and central call handling, no busy signals, no personal phones.
- Basic social media accounts like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, IG
 Other ideas?

Look and feel matters so everything customer facing is done by pros, not by the employees themselves - unless it happens to be the business of the company. A real business also have procedures for almost everything. So how to handle a customers request/complaint/whatever is in 99% of all cases not a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.

I think from a Vendor standpoint, being directed to a "department" if they call. Something like, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or getting to speak with head of Department X, Y or Z.
-
Dress - Techs wear logo embroidered polos, Sales wears suits, Administration wears suits.
Having a real person answer the phone.
 Professionally designed and printed brochures.
An office, in an office building.
