Vultr startup script status

Is there no way to know the status of a startup script? I have to assume it is running in a session I have no visibility into.
Viewing the console shows the "guest" hostname.
I know that after the VitalPBX setup script completes the system will be rebooted, and thus I will see the correct hostname. Because I watched the console reboot and then show it. Just would be nice to see status.
