Yea - you should spend more than $15 - that is a Li-Poly battery... and cheap ones will burn you (and your card)..
I would expect something on the order of $115 to $140 for it. There is quite a bit in the batt

@gjacobse really, I am surprised. I thought ( incorrectly ) the raid controller batteries were not anything special. I think I replaced
some Dell perc card batteries a couple of years ago and the price was reasonable ( in my mind). Is this particular battery type li-poly,
something worth the extra expense ? -
That said - that is also likely for the battery AND card - the card is the controller (of sorts) keeping the battery for over\Under charging and other safety features. You might be able to find just the battery - but that will a search...

something worth the extra expense ?One thing you will need to be cautious about is fake 'batteries' While I haven't had one (or knowingly have one) - they can list a battery as the proper voltage/amperage and 'C' rating. But internally it's only about half of labeled. The skimping can cause the card to over charge the battery and over heat.

Big reason to move away from battery based cards. Sadly, the old ones are all battery.

You could find them online in Amazon or eBay. Word of caution eBay usually ships used items just beware.

You only have a couple of options:
- Pay up for a new one in the $100+ range
- Buy a refurbished one (=used) and hope it will last
- Run without BBU and live with lower performance
- Buy a new RAID controller
You cannot buy a replacement battery.
You need the entire BBU module and it has to be an original one.If you have some serious electronics skills and feel comfortable resoldering SMT components and reprogramming serial I2C eeproms, hacking firmware etc it's technically possible to replace just the battery.

I've replaced a few BBU modules, and they weren't anywhere near $100. More like $20-$40.
As @Pete-S said, just replace the entire module. It's quick, easy, and shouldn't be very expensive.

the gamble. From a previous entry , the battery is Li-ion, not LI-polymer. The official documentation from LSI confirms it.

That goes for all lithium based batteries, and has been a known issue since they were first invented.
