Let's hope it doesn't become another Spanish Flu.

Unlikely, the name Spanish flu refers to a global attempt to use influenza as biological warfare and were intentionally infecting each other and only Spain was willing to break the silence and tell the world that there was a global influenza outbreak. In this case, all the countries are talking already, so the biological warfare aspect of it doesn't exist.

This map is already outdated. 2 cases were confirmed in Ohio yesterday.

I had to pick up my SO from work because he didn't feel good. His co-worker said he probably has a Corona-lite.
I'll see myself out.

As of 1 hr ago the Ohio Department of Health (@OHdeptofhealth on Twitter) says no confirmed cases yet, they are monitoring and testing 2 people but as of right now they aren't confirmed cases (and wouldn't show on the map yet.)
They report test results expected by end of the week.

I was hospitalized in early December for Coronavirus. I was on a ventilator for 3 days due to the swelling in my airway.

IIRC Coronavirus is a family of viruses. The one we are talking about is the Wuhan Coronavirus.
-
@Dashrender It was a confirmed case, but as @coliver said, I didn't have the strain that is transmittable from human to human.

Not an expert but just wanted to chime in :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:
In this part of the world, it known as Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and has some reported cases showing similar symptoms but presently none confirmed by the health department. Due to the outbreak, been seeing more and more people wearing facemasks :face_with_medical_mask: , from surgical, to cloth, to N95. Our office has handed out surgical masks to employees and the building admin personnel wears these. The virus was said to have originated from a market in Wuhan, China which was also selling some exotic animal as cuisine.
-
Spoke too soon, just now, our health department has confirmed the 1st case of 2019-nCoV no longer than 30 mins ago.
-

Face masks are to be worn by someone who is ill to prevent them from spreading the disease. They can't hurt to be worn by healthy people wanting to protect themselves from catching something, but aren't real effective for this purpose.

Face masks, that are kept clean or disposable ones changed regularly, are certainly helpful in removing particulates from the air. How much they help depends on the size of the particulates. Or the size of what they bond to, like water vapor
