Do I gluster or leave-er?

Is Gluster a worth while file system to master? Has anyone used it and what for? I am forging my mental weapon.

Gluster is more likely something to know of, rather than to master. Unless you plan on setting up scalable storage on your own (not with a vendor) I wouldn't personally put a ton of effort into it.

It's neat tech. Learn it to learn it? Sure. I've played with it. I've deployed it. Have I ever found knowing it valuable? No.

Special purpose tech. Nice to know, but IMHO no in-depth knowledge required until you want to become a [gluster/whatever] expert because it will be your next job.
Gluster and other clustered file systems become important once you start playing with Kubernetes / Rancher etc and non-volatile containers. Complex topic.

I used it at my last place to do replicated storage for certain VMs instead of replicated host storage.
