      I have a dozen Windows 8.1 machines all running Panda PCOP. Most, but not all, of the Windows 8.1 machines in my environment are having issues updating a few Defender definition updates since last week.

      First, are you guys disabling defender somehow so you don't worry about updates? or Simply tell WSUS or which ever update mechanism you use to ignore defender?

      Secondly, if you are updating it, how would you suggest that I fix this problem?

      I'm using WSUS to deploy updates to defender right now. These machines were having an issue with updates due to the MS update problem from a month or more ago.. that has now been resolved, but these defender updates still refuse to install.

      To resolve the original problem I ran the following;
      net stop bits
      net stop wuauserv
      net stop appidsvc
      net stop cryptsvc
      del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
      rd /s %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
      net start bits
      net start wuauserv
      net start appidsvc
      net start cryptsvc

      I doubt there is anything left broken in the AutoUpdate, but I could be wrong.

      Thoughts?

        Yes, disable Windows Defender if you are using another AV. In the 8 / 8.1 products, Defender is a full AV so you can either just use it or disable it if using a third party product.
