Grow with Google Certs?

Just came across this on LinkedIn.

If not, who cares? Don't study for what your company cares about unless that is who you want a promotion in. Study/learn for the job you want.

Doesn't answer the question; but appreciate the feedback It can be paired with A+ (and I'm guessing Network+) according to the FAQ at the Bottom. Would this be good for someone just starting?

I've never heard of it - I know my boss has never heard of it - so no, it likely wouldn't matter at my company.
-
A friend of mind is doing that for web development, I think. I'd probably treat it like any other cert: Chase the skills and the cert's an added bonus.
-
Sure, it would help you get a job on our customer facing helpdesk

If any company has insight and experience with what works, what doesn't, and how to kill things, it's Google.

@Obsolesce said in Grow with Google Certs?: If any company has insight and experience with what works, what doesn't, and how to kill things, it's Google. You'd like to think so - but after 20 years, you'd think they'd have a leading chat client. Instead we have the yoyo of chat clients from them.

So I have a question.... Google isn't an IT company and does effectively no support. What does an IT Support Cert by Google imply? Why not a cert from Ford or Hasbro? None of them are IT companies. Having a cert by a company that doesn't do or know IT at all for an IT field and isn't a cert company, and doesn't even make products for the field... feels like it would, at best, look really awkward on a resume.
