We looked at e faxing solutions but it was not cost effective as we only pay I think $45/month for the line and LD and we fax close to 200 pages/month in some cases. Going to revisit one our fax needs reduce.

Aww.. I missed that this was per month... the number was so low I just assumed it was a day.

200? lol, and efaxing wasn't cost effective - try 700, efaxing was going to cost us like $1400/m compared to $60 for two POTS lines.... crazy.

You said 700 pages a month before.

yeah - you seeing that would make 700/m for $1400 would be insanely expensive...

200 is way more likely to be a monthly figure, even for a decent sized company. For us 200 is like a "corporate lifetime" number, and it all happened in 1999-2001. LOL

We got a quote for $800 / mo. for 3,000 FAXes / mo. -- approx 9,000 pages / mo. A few POTS lines and an Intermec Multitech FAX server paid for that rather quickly.
Sorry folks, but there are industries that will FAX no matter the opinion of others.

Not a horrible price, but supposedly way, way higher than the voip.ms price. Which is like $200-$270 supposedly.

There's a huge difference here though Scott - with the VOIP.ms solution, YOU have to provide the ATA, the fax modem, the local storage, etc.

With those online solutions, you just have, heck - your phone.

I've played around with using a voice line from VOIP.MS for sending faxes as they advertise support for t38. It is very hit or miss though whether faxes successfully send or not. I sometimes get the feeling that it depends on who the receiving provider is. If I send to a Comcast phone line it seems to typically go through. If I send to an AT&T line it seems to error out near the end of the fax.

VOIP.MS recently started advertising FoIP but it still requires having a virtualfax number as well as a voiceline.

Interesting - I deployed this for a customer with a grandstream ATA about 6 months ago, and they have had no complaints.

That said - There are posts around ML where my "phone provider" Cox - which only deals in SIP trunks - was having major issues because of line noise being injected into their cable system upstream from my location. Clear the noise, the problem goes away.

Yeah, that's what I'm pricing out.

Honestly, handing it off to a service doesn't bother me. If the price were under twice our costs, I could state a case for it. Beside the petroleum industry being still hard after FAXs, dealing with the government is still done with FAX..... a lot of FAXs.

@scotth 60% of our faxes are government; rest are a mix of healthcare and oddball companies who don't take PO's in email.

@jt1001001 We're close to 50/50 government/customer across all of our bulk plants. Interoffice we attempt to scan to a folder. I can't tell you how many times I saw someone print our a message and then FAX it. It sets my blood to boiling. If I mention that there's another, better, easier, more efficient, pleasing, justified way to do it, I get the 'that's nice, I'll do that next time' look. The owner has been pushing for better behavior. He seems to be getting good results. Hehe

yeah - only way to push this through is to make faxing super painful - remove all fax lines - place last remaining fax machine with an active line in your office behind a locked door (or where ever they can't access with you or your designee)... they will change quickly at that point.
