Using unison instead of rsync?

I was reading this tutorial, How To Back Up Large Directories with Unison On Ubuntu 18.04. The author, Elliot Cooper says that unison is able to backup new files extremely rapidly compare to rsync and I was wondering if there are other reasons to use unison instead of rsync.

Under certain situations. They each is more performant at different times.
