I know it is possible to hang a phone directly off of voip.ms or [insert provider] but.... I have a recent customer that has 2 POTS lines at his office. He is retiring soon and wants to have the calls ring at his office and at his home which is in another town. If I port both lines to a SIP provider, will it work to have 2 phones connected to the same account and have both DIDs ring simultaneously to both phones? I could put a PBX in Vultr but that seems overkill. Very low call volume. There is only 1 user and 2 phones. There is a solid WAN connection at both locations. There would be no growth or adding lines as it is a 1 man shop. I know RingCentral would be a solution but it seems there may be alternatives.

With VoIP.ms, you can make a ring group, so yes. They are actually the only well known SIP trunk provider that offers this type of functionality.

Any provider that does registered trunks could have a phone hang off of it instead, but that is not the same thing at all.

Yup, I recommended Voip.ms for someone for something like this just the other day.

I read some other threads and posts first because I remembered this came up a while back. I am also going to assume Yealink for phones? Any particular models to stay away from?

Not really. Just buy to what is needed.

Great thread. I have a super simple setup for a friend and this should solve it for him easily.

                Thanks for asking the question.
