Does anyone know how well the non-noise cancelling Audio Technica m50xbt dampen noise around you versus the actual noice cancelling headphones that use digital means to do it?

It would just muffle sound, active noise canceling creates an opposite audio tone so you "hear nothing"

I was not asking how noise canceling works. I suppose that I was asking if it's worth losing the battery power over the non-active voice cancelling headphones. I don't need total noise cancellation which I know that they don't do that based on the reviews that I watched. So what I'm asking is if it's worth the noise canceling headphones over the other one listed there.

Sorry using voice to text at the moment.

Also the non noise cancelling headphones are Bluetooth version 5 and the others are for or 4.1

I'm leaning towards the ATH-M50xBT because of more battery life and they are Bluetooth 5, along with better quality build and sound. Some of the reviews say that the others which are noise-canceling are good at canceling some noises, but not so much background talking like you'd hear at a talky coffee shop or an obnoxious phone talker or crying baby on the train close to you. The other noises don't bother me like engine noises and such.

Some reviews mention the noise canceling isn't supurb unless you spend over $350, which I cannot do.

Does that sound reasonable then to choose the M50xBTs?

I almost exclusively listen to music in louder settings, so I'm not usually bothered by even airplane noise, but if you listen to a lot of podcast type stuff then the noise cancelling might be more beneficial.

I have tried a few different brands of noise cancelling headphones in stores, and Bose seem to be superior to the rest. Like totally obvious winners in that regard. As for music sound quality, I don't know, I was just trying the cancelling.

I bought a headset that was $350 and it broke in like 4 months. I have a pair of $12 headphones that have lasted a year. Higher price doesn't necessarily mean higher quality. I'd def give it a shot.

Some people, myself included, get nauseous using noise canceling headphones.

Your motion sickness caused by noise cancelling headphone use is not related to what the topic is, which is "what should I buy".

                      LOL - OK, bro.

If he hasn't used them before, it could affect him.

I have officially decided on the Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless Headphones.

I found a store that has them about 2 blocks away, where I will get them tomorrow morning 🙂

By the way, that website is awesome for comparing headphones.

This might be something that people need to know.

Anybody with inner ear problems could experience this. If you get motion sick wearing noise cancelling (or any kind of) head phones, I would definitely suggest a trip to an Audiologist or an Otolarynologist (aka ENT -- Ear Nose & Throat Doctor).

Ya it's good to know. I seen on the ones I am going with is you don't get that noise-canceling cabin pressure effect. So I don't think it would be an issue with these.

So my daughter could use a pair of wireless headphones. Her and my son had a tug-of-war fighting over them and pulled out the wire.

Something cheap but that is decent for a soon 7 year old.

My wife shops all the clearance sales for the kids. She got these for the 9yo back I January for like $25

The 9yo likes them. I like them because they are not cupped to the ear and I can hear if she turns the volume up too much.

I'm working remotely today and attended a meeting remotely and used the new headset I got (Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless). Their performance was absolutely perfect. I bought them from here. I was sitting outside on the balcony during the meeting, some traffic, birds, etc, and it was good on their end, and good on my end. My only complain is that there is no noise cancellation when using it in "headset" mode, meaning the microphone for speaking is in use. But that wasn't a big deal beause I could still hear everyone else perfectly with volume at 40%. This was on Windows 10 and Chrome browser.

I mean outside noise canceling to my ears. I could clearly hear sounds that could be cancelled out to make my listening experience better.

There are 4 microphones for noise canceling, and 3 for voice, for a total 7.

They could have easily cancelled out normal outside sounds for me, while still picking up my voice on the voice mics.
