What can we learn from this? That hype, buzz, and trends just don't matter. Some of these are interesting. Some had staying power. Those that did, like cloud, IM, VoIP, were all old, established tech by the time that they became hype. They were strong before the hype, and outlived it. Others were nothing but hype and it was the hope that they would someday be adopted that created the hype.
