Synology File Server slow compared to QNAP.

Hi all,
I set to push the Windows server shared folders data (around 6.5TB) to backup to QNAP NAS box (4 Drives - RAID 10) using EaseUS Todo Server backup software..It was okay for any kind of restoring of files requirements etc.
Later, it became insufficient space, so I got new Synology NAS Box (8 Drives - RAID 10) with increased storage and same purpose.
Only QNAP NAS Box replaced with Synology NAS Box, everything else remains same like network, server backing up data, server etc.
Now problem is, I can see some 40% low performance when I compared to QNAP earlier I was using. Now I'm having issues with recovering of data backed up, since it is too slow, and cannot rely with this performance.
What I did?
- I tried by updating Synology firmware and restart, no progress.
- I tried by connecting directly to Synology through LAN cable, to see if there's something making slow over the network, but even if connected directly or over the network, same performance.
Appreciate your suggestions!

How specifically was the QNAP and Synology configured beyond the RAID10?
Was the QNAP used as Block Storage and the synology the same over iSCSI?

While I don't remember exactly block storage,one thing is, on QNAP, there was no Snapshot option enabled, but on Synology I have enabled Snapshot for data protection (one of the reason I went with Synology), so, could it be the reason for slow performance? and there's no iSCSI involved in both cases, using simple shared folder.
How to overcome this issue?

@openit the snapshot functionality is a feature of using Btrfs. It could cause performance issues for sure (not Btrfs, but snapshots in general require IOPS).
Go into Storage Manager > Volume, select the Btrfs volume containing your replicated targets and set the record file access time frequency to Monthly (Never is also an option but you likely want this performed at least regularly).
See if the performance improves.

"set the record file access time frequency" why is this exactly? and if I change it, is it going to effect snapshot functionality?

I have changed it to "Monthly" now. Hope it resolves the performance issues without impacting the "data protection" functionality through Snapshots.

So to ask the question, do any of your systems depend on the "File access time" attribute? If not, you could likely set
"Record file access time" to Never for the best performance.Which is the last option. But as a stepping stone into troubleshooting this Monthly is my recommendation.
The files are still updated whenever they are changed, so the Monthly option may, at best offer a slight improvement.

While I'm not sure, I believe no for File Access Time depended systems.
Anyway, I will keep in observation with Monthly option selected.

Also what type of drives are you using?
