Basically you registered the time service, then started it, then re-synchronized the clock with it's source.

Check and make sure there are no scheduled tasks running that fiddle with he time as well.

Ya this is a good idea... if you didn't set it up and manage it's life, someone else coudl have some weird tasks going for whatever reason.

You reset the time sync service, told it to find a time master and told it to not wait to update.
the time sync as in "Internet Time" sync?
I've had issues with that in the past.
Like it's off by an hour and causes issues -

Those could be the defaults. You'll have to see who created them and what they do.

Slip meaning time goes more slowly. So you change it at 4PM Monday and by 8AM Tuesday the clock is some random amount of time behind.
This is a time jump, not a slip.

An entire hour ahead, would be a timezone issue. If it reoccurs.

And timezone issues don't jump forward and then backwards 3 hours and then forwards 1.
It's a consistent change.

I'm assuming you're in Central Standard, and that would help to explain the "it jumped ahead an hour" issue.

The reason it won't let you change it, IIRC is that it's set to allow windows to manage the time itself.

When I change it to CST it says " Your current time zone is not recognized, Please select a valid time zone. "
