Yeah, Texans think they know BBQ. They ain't never been to the Dinosaur...which, by the way, was founded in my hometown! World-famous sauce, all from Syracuse, NY.

I couldn't disagree more. Nothing compares to Rudy's extra moist brisket. Sauce can only do so much to disguise a piece of dry meat. 😉 I do miss Nick Tahou's garbage plates, though. And I'll never like catfish as much as I like haddock.

@scottalanmiller I don't actually mind the fish so much as the cornmeal batter. It's just very... meh. On the other hand, there's a place here called the Catfish Parlor that has insanely good hush puppies. With jalapeno tartar sauce.

Yeah, Rudy's is the best. The thing about Texas BBQ is there's so much of it... you just have to find the right places. For example, PoK-e-Jo's is great. Smokey Mo's, however is not. The Salt Lick is way overrated in my opinion. I got ribs once there and they were terrible.

Everyone I know from the north has been disappointed with Salt Lick.

@AndyW There's a Rudys on 290 in NW Houston; save me a drive to Austin now I'm hungry!

Well the Playback Machine senior developer is in the discussion now. So we will get his opinion as to if the kick starter is worth pursuing.

So, I know it's Friday afternoon... but any word back? 😛

Wait, am I supposed to be the Playback Machine senior developer? If so, then yes, Kickstarter. Also, it should have all the features and do all the things. If not then, um, disregard this I guess. 🙂

Sounds good, but we should probably make a demo first. We're going to need a lot of data, so let me just download the Internet real quick. I'll let you know when that's done.

Ha ha. Actually grabbing Facebook, Twitter and SW data would be easy and a good demo.

I've got a code base for SW data harvesting so we have a starting point.

Do people want to know this stuff? In 2006 I was listening to Britney Spears on Spotify, watching a funny cat video on YouTube and arguing with somebody about England's best midfielder on some forum. In 2007 I was....largely doing the same...In 2008 ditto....

                                  I don't wanna know!

It's about social archeology. It's data about yourself that you've never been able to mine before.

But CB has a point.. Just because we can mine for it, do we really want to?

Granted there are things I've done in the past I would like to be reminded to do again or follow up on, etc.. but an entire archive of everything - I think I'd get lost/bored and just move on.

It's about being able to recreate history. Help to keep from losing perspective. Provide something to the next generation.

So, what about something where you can manage your online history? I mean obviously you cannot remove anything technically, but for most average people it's quite possible to edit/remove old forum posts, accounts, etc.

Honestly I'm sure there's registrations for all sorts of things I haven't used in years across my emails that I'd like to peek at.

                                            (In brainstorming mode.)
