I think I'll just be sticking with Chromium at for now. I'll wait a few FAQ revs.
Does Chromium run better on Linux than Chrome?

Does Chromium run better on Linux than Chrome?
It's lighter, fewer plugins.

At least with Fedora, hte default Chromium version is the developer build. Probably the only way for Linux users to keep their browser up to date.

My other browsers update on my Linux desktops as well.

Chromium runs best on the Fedora-based distros that I've been using recently... Fedora 25/26/27, Korora 25/26, CentOS 7. Chrome runs well too, I used that previously, but now I use Chromium where I can.
-
I use FF -> Chromium -> Chrome
I like the light nature of Chromium and not being able to use things I don't want like Flash.

I'm liking what I see with Firefox Quantum so far. I don't use it nearly so heavily as Chrome tho, so I can't really compare too well.
I tend to switch completely until I decide if I want to stick with it or not. The RAM usage fluctuates wildly. It seems to go up when my computer is asleep or I'm not actively using the browser.

Fuckers reset whatever setting it was that I treaked to make text entry not be useless..
I knew I should have posted hwat I did to resovle this on here.. Now I have to go back months to find what I did.

That was the first thing that made me go to Chromium on Linux, other than the other odd issues.

Is that an issue on Cinnamon desktop?

I think that's where I first noticed it... I found the fix that JB is probably talking about, but I didn't feel like dealing that that.
I didn't give it a chance on other GUIs, so it may not be an issue on Gnome and others. -

It is a known issue with Firefox and dark GTK themes on Linux.
A 17 year old bug report in fact.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70315You can teak a setting manaully.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Firefox#Unreadable_input_fields_with_dark_GTK.2B_themesOr use an add on.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/text-contrast-for-dark-themes/The add on works for me this time around.

Turns out that was a runaway tab that I had left open. Killed the tab, and all was well.

I tried that addon a few months ago and it didn't work. Editing the .css file is what did it.
So now it's the opposite?
-
I prefer Firefox because
- Firefox still lets me see SSL certs from the address bar.
- Firefox lets me decide is I want to be able to execute
jnlp
files or not.

I never tried it last time. Did not see it. So I edited the
.css
. This time I tried the plugin and it works for ML. Have not been on other sites yet. -

- View SSL Certs in Chrome:
** Hit the F12 key
** Click the Security tab
** Click the View Certificate button.
Not sure what you mean about jnlp, because when I click to view iDRAC console (as one example), it has me downlaod a .jnlp file. I choose whether or not to open it. If I want to open it, I select the program I want to use... which I usually use IcedTea.

I know of 2 ways to semi easily get to that screen. but that is not the point. They took it away from any type of normal user view. Because they know better than I.

They know better than I, and refuse to allow me to always execute them.
This means I have to go through a save dialog 100% of the time.

@jaredbusch That would drive me bonkers!
