@coliver SpaceX seems to be in the headlines a lot these days, all these achievements, what's Nasa doing these days lol??

Learning from SpaceX on how to operate a tight ship. . .

Or most likely offering to pay SpaceX so NASA can't take the blame when something goes wrong.

Totally not true. NASA itself is a great organization. Government bloat, sure, though even there not a lot as their budget has consistently shrunk year after year.
But the science and mission of NASA is great.

This I agree with. They fund and support a huge portion of our climate science and most of our current understanding comes from NASA missions and satellites, as well as their counterparts in other countries.
While bloated I'm not convinced they should be doing commercial missions anyway.

I don't get why NASA is doing climate science. We have NOAA for that. It is essentially a duplication/division of effort.

If they worked in tandem with each other with defined scope, roles, and responsibilities, then I would see that being the best. NASA be in charge of getting the stuff into space. NOAA will take care of the satellite and reporting back. Heck. Cut NASA out and just contract with Space-X to get it up there. NASA is just the facilitator.

It's like how IT Buyers just hire other people to do the job they are tasked with. You can cut them out and let the business do that directly and save all that money.

Because they don’t generally do the same research, and what NASA does is passed to the rest of the science community.

That is a total lack of understanding

But NASA's mission doesn't include the earth, and NOAA's specifically does. I'm not saying that NASA shouldn't collect data if they are the ones handling the satellites, but they shouldn't be doing the research. That is like the army having airplanes. Oh wait... It still doesn't make sense imo.

@dafyre NASA does science, not launches. That is how it should be, let them discover new things while spacex gets them where they need to go.

Where is the same for Exchange, MS? Resource Monitor is terrible compared to this dashboard. -

Why not have SpaceX do the science, too?

Right, I'm asking why they don't make it the same thing.
-
@scottalanmiller They would need to become NASA to do what NASA does, and in doing so lose what makes them Spacex. spacex isnt making anything nearly as complicated as NASA. NASA is way beyond rocket science with clever gyros.
