They should of bit the bullet and dug up the uk streets years ago and just laid the fibre, instead BT have only put fibre to the cabinet at the end of the street....people want full fibre to the home now...not half copper and fibre....
The subsidies provided obviously weren't enough.
I have fibre to my house and it's great. . . and stupidly cheap as well.
Don't most US based homes have fibre direct to the premises? or do you have a mix of vdsl/adsl/fibre depending on state?
ha. . . maybe 1% of us homes have fibre to the house. I'm in that lucky percentage.

So most people on adsl??adsl or copper yeah.
And with our joke of a government it is likely to stay this way.
Crazy, the top grossing country in the world and your government is not even investing in it's infrastructure...you could probably pay for it tenfold if you didn't spend as much on your military lol..

This I agree with. They fund and support a huge portion of our climate science and most of our current understanding comes from NASA missions and satellites, as well as their counterparts in other countries.
While bloated I'm not convinced they should be doing commercial missions anyway.

I don't get why NASA is doing climate science. We have NOAA for that. It is essentially a duplication/division of effort.
If they worked in tandem with each other with defined scope, roles, and responsibilities, then I would see that being the best. NASA be in charge of getting the stuff into space. NOAA will take care of the satellite and reporting back. Heck. Cut NASA out and just contract with Space-X to get it up there. NASA is just the facilitator.

Because they don’t generally do the same research, and what NASA does is passed to the rest of the science community.

Because they don’t generally do the same research, and what NASA does is passed to the rest of the science community.
But NASA's mission doesn't include the earth, and NOAA's specifically does. I'm not saying that NASA shouldn't collect data if they are the ones handling the satellites, but they shouldn't be doing the research. That is like the army having airplanes. Oh wait... It still doesn't make sense imo.
