The GUI on Apple devices is just horrid. I had to do some things to one a few days ago or so and I just couldn't. I ended up going to CLI and thankfully a lot of Linux commands work on it.

OMG yeah, their Mac OSX interface is so painful if you haven't memorized how everything works and where it is. It's the ultimate "experts interface".

Yeah exactly. It took me way too long to even find the terminal. None of it makes any logical sense.

Pressing the

and typeterminal
is too difficult? -

Oh, so you are talking about actually navigating using a mouse/touchpad?

Pressing the

and typeterminal
is too difficult?Yes - because you have to learn or read about that option. It should be easy to find in the GUI.

I have thought that for years.

Apple Admits to slowing down older iPhones.
http://fox6now.com/2017/12/21/apple-admits-it-slows-down-older-iphones-to-prevent-battery-issues/Paul Thurrott wrote about this behind his paywall today.
“I did some research, and decided to replace my battery,” he explained. Wear level was somewhere around 20% on my old battery. I did a Geekbench score, and found I was getting 1466 Single and 2512 Multi. This did not change wether I had low power mode on or off. After changing my battery, I did another test to check if it was just a placebo. Nope. 2526 Single and 4456 Multi. From what I can tell, Apple slows down phones when their battery gets too low, so you can still have a full days charge. This also means your phone might be very slow for no discernible reason.”
Put simply, as your iPhone ages, the battery becomes less efficient. So Apple is choosing to artificially keep the battery at roughly the same daily duration—calling iPhone battery life “all-day” is ludicrous, but whatever—over time. But in doing this, in harms the performance of the device. In other words, over time, your iPhone gets slower and slower.
So apple is choosing all day battery life over performance - /sigh.

LastPass Authenticator App Update
https://hackernoon.com/lastpass-authenticator-app-is-not-secure-77b9743c3007huh - that timeline sucks. While I don't consider this an end of the world bad thing, it shouldn't have taken 5+ months to fix, and then really only after being told it was being published.
It sucks that the publish threat is the only thing that seems to make many companies work on problems.

Yes, that was what the person said. It took them a lot to get there.

Whitehouse.gov moves from Drupal to WordPress
That article acted like moving to Wordpress was the only way to get a form on the site? It’s a core module in Drupal. I mean maybe they saved some money because they could find a cheaper firm to manage the site but Drupal can do everything Wordpress can do plus a huge amount more.
I’m guessing it was because Drupal 8 was released in 2015. 7 is still updated and available but not all modules have been ported over. They also switched to twig for themes so that would require rework for the theme on 8. If they aren’t leveraging the power of Drupal then I’m sure Wordpress will save them money that way also since they would just need blogging ability and info pages. Drupal is really a CMF that lets you build your own custom CMS.

I mean out of the box Drupal is still a great CMS if that’s all you want but you also have the building blocks to create anything you could imagine.
