@scottalanmiller, @Dominica, @Texkonc, @NetworkNerd, and I are far enough inland that we won't get any thing more than a scattered shower or thunderstorm from one of the arm bands of Harvey.
@brianlittlejohn will expect to see more rain as he is more in the Waco area. Scott mentioned that @StorageNinja is down in that area, but I am not sure of his status.
There is an ARES crew local to me that is probably geared up and ready to go the minute that Harvey begins to evacuate. I'm keeping my radio close by and on NOAA along with the local 2m repeater, just in case. I'm not apart of the ARES team, but just like to stay prepared.
Im actually not in the Waco area, I am in Midland/Odessa area.
Oh, sorry. I know we have somebody in the Waco area, but can't remember who they are.

No worries, just correcting.

@RestoronixDavid & @RestoronixSean live in the D/FW area too, but haven't heard from them in a while.
@RestoronixDavid is traveling full time, so not in the area.
@RestoronixSean is heading to Seattle for a bit, so escaping.

What about @StorageNinja ? Did he make it out of Houston the other day?

I would assume that he has either vacated or is bunkering down because he hasn't been active for the last day or so.

He mentioned escaping like yesterday. But I spoke to him within the last hour on IM.

Stay safe, everyone!
-
@nerdydad I am in Waco as well so will report anything of significance that might help others be safe.

Well, hope it won't be to much of a trouble for the area.

Did you pull that from the satellite directly?

I wished I could. No,.. I started with my local weather station and moved down. Since so much data is centralized for weather these days,.. most radar maps like this are 'connected'.

@nerdydad
Just tried to access some radar maps from Corpus Christi - KrisTV,... having some issues... -
@gjacobse My dad (an extra) told me one time that he was able to pull the grayscale cloud images from the satellite, but I didn't have a chance to figure out how he did it. I'm sure its probably just a radio on a frequency with a slow scan TV.

I have sort of looked into it. I know one of the rPi projects I want to do has it... but limited.
and then there is using the SDR:

I'm listening to the Hurricane net on 14.325 - the noise level is s9 - so can barely hear the net control
-
@gjacobse I'm just a tech with a Baofeng UV-5R. Sooo, you know what I'm hearing.

LOL... you can hear anything as long as you have an SDR or any HF radio... it's the trans you are not allow to do.. unless in an emergency situation.

Totally understood. That's the way I understand it as well.

About 56 miles out from Corpus Christi.
