@aaronstuder That's actually a nice looking terminal. If only the download were working.

I had to make sure I was downloading from Sourceforge, I had to choose that and not use their default download button or else it was going to take 12 hours.

That's what I did too

I could start a torrent...

All of it looks really good, it' a slick overall design.

I've noticed that LibreOffice on Deepin is actually hideously ugly. It is pretty clear that it is an afterthought. They expect you to use the other office suite and LO is just there for required functionality.

Easy fix. This package is missing and does not install by default. Install this and all is better.
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gtk

@scottalanmiller have you tried Deepin on your ROG?

No, I need the RoG to work and Deepin doesn't have a live install to test it first. So I'd be taking a risk that I'd create a tonne of work for myself needing to restore it all on the likely chance that the install would fail. So I've been wary to test it.

Okay. I'm going to carve out a partition and try it on mine (dual boot) and see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes. (today/tomorrow/sometime)

Would be awesome to be able to replace Ubuntu with Deepin!

SF was really slow for me.... I used their Google Drive link. That was the best option for me.

SF worked fine for me. Their download link on their page was useless yesterday.

An absolute horrible experience so far out of the box... Even if im able to make it to the desktop.
I'm hoping updates make things better, not optimistic though. Their repository is insanely slow btw.

A lot of things don't open, including the launcher.

That's so weird, it's working flawlessly here. I wonder what failed?

No idea. I scrapped it already. I couldn't even shut it down after updating because nothing opens except terminal and chrome. It wouldn't reboot from terminal. No launcher, control panel / settings, or anything.
The first time I booted after install, it was a blank screen after I logged in because I had an external monitor plugged in. I unplugged it and did manual shutdown. Turned it back on and it booted to desktop fine after logging in. That time it wouldn't let me open anything except terminal from the right-click menu.
I just don't feel like messing with it. I'm sure it's great on regular hardware... I can definitely see the appeal.

Strange, worked ok for me as well..

I have no doubts it will work fine on other hardware. Nothing really works right on the RoG except Win10 and I think Ubuntu. I don't even remember anymore. One of them mostly worked... I will have to find my old post here somewhere. Maybe it was straight Fedora I had the most success with. That sounds more familiar.
@scottalanmiller said he has Ubuntu running on his. I think he has the same one as me, Asus ROG Strix laptop.
