For those of your running Korora on a laptop, which brand / model are you using, and how pleased are you with hardware compatibility? I'm looking to purchase a new laptop soon, and I'm curious to know what hardware will tolerate Linux distributions well.

My laptop is a 2011 MacBook Pro. Everything works fine except apparently sleep.

All of the people talking about problems seem to have newer hardware.

Not running Korora, but I do run Fedora. I've run the Workstation version and the KDE spin. Both work fine. I've got a Dell Latitude e7270.

You will have better luck with brands like HP, Dell and System76.

I saw those links. Figured I'd get some word-of-mouth opinions :).

Yeah, I have a feeling I'll be taking one for the team. I have two requirements: Under 5 lbs and matte screen larger than 13". Conventional wisdom tells me to not use bleeding edge hardware from major manufacturers with Linux due to potential compatibility issues. Also, I simply don't have the time or energy to search for an older, but in good condition laptop. I figure this will be an opportunity for this company to potentially earn my business, as well as support a company interested in Linux-first computers.

Attending MangoCon is what convinced me to finally get a new laptop. I did buy a used MacBookPro 17" for my recording stuff (as it interfaces nicely with my Presonus equipment). I'm not interested in turning that into a Linux machine, but I wanted to make my next "main" computer a Linux box.

I got my Chromebook specifically for conferences. It's perfect for that.

                              Awesome

About the laptop, not the waiting.
