Finally watching GoT

I like it, but I don't really find myself attached to any of the characters, other than the wolves. I have not read the books, because the first one started out so slowly, that I just wasn't interested in continuing. I don't know if that makes a difference to caring about the characters or not. Thoughts?

If you aren't attached to the characters you'll be much happier. Getting attached is how RR gets you.

I got about two thirds through the first book but had to stop easing it. Completely unenjoyable to read and depressing. The story was just depressing and upsetting. Nothing worth reading.

That little blond boy king is annoying. Dragons and wolves are cool. Until last month I did not know where the "Brace Yourselves" meme came from :-p!

a family friend of mine has been reading the books and he said it's tough to read them but the show isn't doing the books justice.

They are tough to read as in they are painful and not enjoyable.

I think Game of Thrones is the first book I actually stopped halfway through and said "I don't hate myself enough to put myself through this. " and stopped reading it. I was that unhappy with it.

I'm caught up so now I have to wait for the new episodes to release, like everyone else. The show is pretty depressing too, but well done. The only humor is with Tyrion Lannister, so R.R. will probably kill him off. He's too well liked.

Oh are they ending the series? TrueBlood is done after the season that starts at the end of June. They went to a weird place with the TrueBlood series. Should have stuck to the book storyline.

That's what I've heard. Maybe that is just for the season or something.

I've been thinking about watching it. I think after I finish up with Breaking Bad it will be my next watch.

I haven't seen that either, even those I look like the main character apparently.
