      Linux 4.11 has officially released today. The latest kernel update includes journaling capabilities for parity RAID (RAID 4, 5 and 6), improved hot swap drive support, new self encrypting drive support, general improvements, Shared Memory over RDMA (SMC-R) by IBM standard, audio improvements and more.

        someone else have the feeling that there are no big changes?? I talks from the side of a computer user.
        It's only me or anyone else has freezes copying big data throught usb?? and this hasn't change in years....

            The improvements to hot swapping drives is a big item. Glad that is in there.

                  @scottalanmiller I've experienced it on Suse/opensuse and ubuntu in low end motherboards, not servers.

                    You sure it is a kernel issue then? Maybe it is the hardware in question?

                        Servers wouldn't run on custom kernels, but they would rarely have USB either. Maybe that is all that it is, no USB on servers 🙂
