I listen to twit.tv podcasts
To me Twit.tv is about the same as SW. Not really in-depth as far as technical, but more journalistic and IT Buyers club from what I can see.
Yes, that's how I've always seen it. Tech-sounding stuff for people not actually in tech loaded with misleading info, repetition of misunderstood things and no value. Actually dangerous, due to the reinforcement of misconceptions.
The best way I've seen it is journalists trying to talk about IT. Just like SW is marketers trying to do IT.
That's literally what it is. I've looked into it before. It's "IT News" for people outside of IT.

Sadly there used to be a non-profit tech channel, about 14 years ago, that was amazing: IT Conversations. Had interviews, conference talks and all kinds of things. It was amazing content. They ran it for years, had talks from tons of the best conferences (delayed of course) and all extremely IT and SE. No reporters, all actual IT people and IT vendors and researchers. I've never found something to replace it.

@scottalanmiller When I've watched TwiT podcasts, I don't take everything that's said as gospel (like with any news-like entity), but it often does pique my interest to learn more about [insert topic here.]
As for Steve Gibson, he's been called out before when he gets something wrong, and he'll own up to it--which is refreshing.

TWIT.tv -- in particular Security Now
That's one of the better shows. The problem with that particular one is that Steve Gibson tends to see the tree and not the forest. Don't take his advice on not using the latest version of Windows!
It's not an IT or technical show, right? It's just entertainment for fringe-gadgety people? It's not like it's meant for people that would actually be making decisions.
This is why I really only listen to RunAs Radio for IT stuff... (it's also where I heard about Visual Studio Code). Because it's not really news or entertainment... It's actually useful real-world IT info and knowledge, straight from the horses mouths (in many cases).

I think the only tech podcast I follow, even though I don't listen to it, is FLOSS Weekly. I namely watch the RSS feed for interesting "new" open source projects that I hadn't heard of before.
-
For weekly news I used to listen to TechSnap and Risky Business, and the daily SANS Internet Storm Centre Stormcast for a quick overview of security issues of the day.
-
A really good podcast for career type stuff is The Geek Whisperers, and I really like The Datanauts weekly podcast too (variety of trends and topics).

WHAT? I suppose some of their podcasts might be like that, but security now definitely is not.

Steve Gibson isn't the greatest advocate for security. SecurityNow is more an in-depth look at tech than any real security. Also, yes, I'm a fan, but I know that it's not a good resource for security anything.

If anything, I digest Hak5's ThreatWire as soon as Snubb's pushes it out on YouTube.
-
Do all of the White House press briefings count? I hear they know all about the cybers.

Sarcasm I sense not in you.

Yeah - sadly he has allowed people's unwillingness to be secure to creep into his recommendations.
