Part 5 of The World at War from 1973.
Spoilers: the Germans lose.
Or do they?
I'm not so sure anymore, maybe there's an alternate ending
This is where we joke about the current state of the American government and note that in the long game, Germany won.

That's like the German equivalent of a New York minute.

Do Androids Dream... on Amazon
Like Black Mirror/Twilight Zone, serial scifi stories about an hour long. Got a few episodes left. -

Watched Solo last night. Had no idea Ron Howard was the director.
This was really good. -

I thought the story was good over all.

This was really good.Didn't know Opie directed that one. It's got to be better than the whining, emo sith movies.

Much, much better.

This was really good.Ron Howard I think was the 2nd or 3rd director on the project. It apparently was a nightmare during production.
Still haven't seen it, it's on my list.

George Burns was right, show business is a horrible bitch goddess!

Watching the first season of Growing Pains with Liesl made her want to attempt bowling.

It was only meh. Definitely not a real Star Wars story in my mind. That of course doesn't make it a bad movie - it was a robbery movie is all. It was a decent popcorn flick with some characters from Star Wars in it.

LOL - all that said - I fucking loved Rogue One!
The reality is - almost nothing movie wise that doesn't directly move the classic story forward or fill in desirable gaps - nothing will really give the fans what they want. At least not from a Star Wars POV.
Could a Boba Fett movie be cool? probably - but it's not going to feel like Star Wars - really, their best bet when trying to do this is the make sure it feels NOTHING like a Star Wars movie, break that connection. The movie needs to stand on it's own - hell - write the movie and say - if you knew nothing about Star wars, would this be a cool movie? If the answer is yes, next you ask - Does it portray the character as expected from the original? If yes - make it, if no - dumb that trash.
I'm pretty sure this is the first TV/Film project in - oh wait, no it's not. I was going to say, I think it's the first project that didn't directly tie into the OT, but it's not. Star Wars Christmas Special didn't - and neither did the Ewok adventures (well I guess they did after reading some of the Wiki pages, but a lot of that was killed off in new canon of EP I -III). None of these shows really lasted either.
I think the more recent cartoons have done well because they fill in the gaps to the movies - plus, well, they are cartoons for kids and the kids liked them enough to keep watching.

@dashrender They did some stuff I didn't like lore-wise. I never wanted to know what the kessel run was for instance. There's no way that it could ever live up to the legend and of course, it didn't. If you made this just a science fiction movie outside of the starwars universe though I think most people complaining would've liked it.

Awww - you never read the books - that explains why you didn't know what the Kessel Run was - or at least had an idea. Personally - that was probably one of the best parts. Though of course it left a huge gap - if that robot had those charts and was able to make a new way through - why could no one else?

Agreed - it would have just been another space adventure train robbery movie. Something like that does not belong in the SW universe, unless, as I mentioned before - they change the style so drastically as to basically make it it's own thing.

They presented it like it had maps that were lost long ago but it's kind of just a cop-out to make it easier to write lol

And the main plot device of Episode VII. And it was a poor plot device in that movie too.
