What Are You Watching Now

I finally took control of the tv last night and watched 1/3 of star trek beyond, first tv ive watched in weeks, but then lost control of tv to the kids and wife. Went back to my cave after that:(
See if the Wife and Kids did that to me (although one of my kids is a big Sci-Fi nut like me so he is on my side) did that, the internet would mysteriously stop working till they got interested in something else and once that happened the internet would quietly start working and I would be in watching Star Trek Beyond again.
Although the CBS All Access SUCKS. I mean if you wanted to make a streaming platform that just doesn't work that is what you would make. It kept starting and stopping, going back to the beginning, jumping back a couple of seconds, replay a second over and over again, popping sounds throughout. I mean it was just as bad as it could be. Took me an hour and a half to watch it. It isn't an hour and a half long. I am all Andriod and was casting to my chromecast. My friend is all apple and has apple tv and was watching through the CBS app on his apple tv had the same issues. I don't believe it was on our end. My bandwidth wasn't even being touched during the whole thing. I was at maybe 30 Mbps down and I get 130 down usually.

I was reading the posts about the All-Access for StarGate yesterday and people were complaining about how bad the streaming was.
Damn - just get with someone who knows WTF they are doing and let them offer your shit for you.

I saw posts about this in reference to last night but it has sucked from the beginning for me. I thought it was just me. One night it would go from the commercial (I went with the cheaper access) back to the show and you could hear it but the screen was black. You also have to remember to cast the app before you play the show because if you play the show and then cast it always has problems.

Just one more reason I dislike Chromecast.

Eh, I've found that some apps work amazingly with it and some suck. Looks like the implementation is the problem and not the actual device or technology. I actually prefer the Chromecast over my fireTV or the Roku Stick.

I've not used any of the stick versions of those things, the normal Fire and Roku are pretty awesome in my experience. Biggest issue I have is the HDMI sync issue - the fraking security shit to make sure you're not stealing the stream... sadly it causes issue sometimes with my AV receiver and TV.
As for Chromecast - I want a real remote, dislike using the phone/pc/tablet to manage the stream on my TV.

I love my Chromecast, CBS All access is the only program I have trouble casting with.

Just finished up the first season of American Horror Story last night (I'd only seen bits and pieces of the middle seasons). Most excellent, except for the cop out happy ending.
Also been enjoying Mike Judge's new show, Tales From the Tour Bus (semi-animated documentary about outlaw country artists).
-
Watching The Sixth Sense on SyFy.
-
Finished the first season of 24. Not actually very good. I'm surprised it made it on network TV when you can't binge it. Had I had to wait a week for an episode to come out, this would not have been gripping enough to keep me watching.
Pretty bad acting, but they killed off the most annoying character by the end of the first season, so maybe it improves.

finished tv show Sinner
-
Started the fifth season of ST:Deep Space 9.. Not sure why I'm watching it,.. other than just something to watch.

3/4 the way through SG1.

Have decided that both 24 and Blacklist are fails. Not bothering to complete either. 24 was weak from the very beginning, mediocre cast with some really bad choices that make the show literally painful to watch, and characters that you just don't care about. And Blacklist was great at first, but then clearly changed and lost its direction.

I think Black list was better in season 2 and 3, but either 4 (or was it 5) started jumping the shark.

It gets worse than three? By three, the lead character is clearly insane and is a different personality every episode - none of them good.
-
@scottalanmiller That show, like all others in history, died when the lead had a kid. Kids kill good tv shows.
-
Last night i watched Baby Driver and The Final Master.
Baby Driver was meh, could have just cut out the first hour of the movie.
Final Master was pretty good. -

I've thought about it but my kids are young and like their cartoons and wife is just always grumpy and hard to get along with so Ive given up and let them have it
