we're probably going to migrate everything over (but guess when.... next flipping weekend...)
Chances are it won't live that long if you're having these issues already.
-
@Dashrender That's what I was thinking as well.

These links should help you with backing up metadata and restoring.

@black3dynamite Thank you.
The second link I've tried to follow through the steps and because the system is stuck in a read-only state (yet the vm's are operational) I need to manually export the metadata.
@Dashrender does this look correct?
-
@DustinB3403 Is it only read-only on the USB where XenServer is installed on? Maybe you can backup metadata to your EXT SR where your VMs are at.
-
@DustinB3403 said in xenserver error fsck:
from within XC I'm not seeing UUID's on the drives them selves.
This is actually not required - if the disks very in size enough between the VMs, just grab the disk sizes and keep that information (that's all I had when I did it)

yes, that should be what you need

The meta data doesn't exist on the SR unless you previously backed it up.

Ok cool.
So on this one VM i'm having a hell of a time actually determining what is the proper VHD uuid
I have 2...
2b00bf92-b289-43dc-a0e9-9cf4f3e28501
c143c2e0-5149-455b-9730-73e08585e09a
Which maybe this isn't such a huge ordeal as this VM is tiny (150GB)

@Dashrender what steps did you go through to restore, can you send me what you had to follow directly?
Honestly I don't have a list - I was kinda like you are now - frantically looking around for solutions.
-
I didn't have any uuid info when my failed.
What I did have was just a list of the VMs and the sizes of the disks associated with each.
After I reattached the SR to the new install of XS, I built the VMs and picked the VDIs inside XC.
-
In XC, click on the VDI (VHD) and then choose STORAGE from the menu and COPY UUID TO CLIPBOARD.

There is no uuid listed at this level

Even under properties in XC it's not there.

Using commands like this will help a lot more.
xe vdi-list sr-uuid=<SR UUID> params=all -

xe vdi-list sr-uuid=<SR UUID> params=allI don't think any commands are running on his host. It's basically dead in the water.

what's highlighted when you do that? the VM or the VM host?

The VDI (VHD) you want to get the UUID of.
