There's not currently a specific question, but I'm a certified installer and run into Constant headaches with this software. Has anyone else ever dealt with it?

@scottalanmiller That's right. You don't. The main software runs CrystalDB for a backend with a frontend that looks like it was designed for Windows 2000. That's just the start...

@JaredBusch Why does it not surprise me that you have touched this system? lol. You are probably more on top of these types of things than most people I know.

Just to make you feel a little old, I was seven years old when you stopped being an installer.

Sorry, let me clarify, I have never installed this brand.

But I worked for a local security company and a national one (ADT) for about 8 years (1993-2000) as a commercial installer. I specialized in building access control systems (all PC based stuff that ran on a serial loop back then).

Gotcha. These guys have a good hook and kickass hardware. All IP based, low install costs, and very little hardware.
However, the software hasn't held up to the hype.

That concept has legitimately crossed my mind.

Could it be written in Python? or would it need Java / C some other ...

@gjacobse Not entirely sure, but I don't think I'd do python. A bit too heavy of a language for this. Might slow things down. I'd be perfectly fine learning a new language to do it lol
