Goodbye Pebble

  • I am not sure if anyone here was a Pebble user or not. I had my Pebble Classic for about a year and loved it. 2 Weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and get a Pebble 2 + HR. Then today the announcement came out that FitBit had for sure bought Pebble, they will be closing Pebble, all non-shipped orders and Kickstarter backing will be canceled and refunded, they will begin phasing out cloud features of the watch, etc. etc. I still had my receipt, and Best Buy honored their return policy and I got a full refund. It sucks, I guess I will have to save up for an Apple Watch as it has been 4 hours and I already kinda miss it. Has anyone else had a technology company just disappear after you bought the hardware?

  • Yes, but it was a several million dollar thermo-former that makes bathroom tub shells.

I bought the company a whole collection of late 90's era Compaq's and cloned the drive to all of them. It's an interesting take on hot spares I suppose.

  • Awwww but... but... but pebble looked so promising.

  • I just hope FitBit has fixed the problem with the adhesives on their bands. I've had to super glue my band on for the second time in a year.

If you email them and ask they will send you a brand new one. They did for my wife twice now.

Mine is already out of warranty. I did have them do that the first time. The second band was better -- it lasted almost a full year... If you are telling me they'll still ship me another one, then dang, I need to go to their site and see!

It is worth sending them an email and asking. I can't remember if hers was a year old or not, but I know she got the same one replaced twice.

  • I'll hit them up and see. Their support crew was great when this happened before.

Sad that is required but glad they replaced it for her
