Looks like that tree had a crummy root system where as PT Cruisers are completely rooted, right from the factory.

Merritt Island in Florida. Not as bad as being in the Bahamas, but it isn't a good thing either.

Yes, but technically they are saltwater lagoons even though they are named as rivers.
Ya we just called it the intercoastal where I lived for a little.

The roots on that tree seems very shallow for a tree that size.

Florida... their is no soil just sand. It doesn't have to go far to get a lot of water.
