That's probably true in more recent history, but there's not the longer term build-up of knowledge due to it having been illegal in most places for so long. Whatever the current state, we're hoping to collect and improve on the knowledge that's out there and provide a place for professionals to share knowledge. The Spiceworks of Cannabis, if you will

But that is more info on indoor growing in general. Much less is known about the specifics of cultivating various cannabis strains than is known about tomatoes or other veggies.
And please don't call it marijuana, that's the slang term popularized by the fear mongers that made it illegal in the first place.

Hemp is a general term for cannabis ruderalis, which is mostly grown for fiber, not flowers. It's also the term for the fiber itself.
