Sophos or WebRoot Cloud Endpoint Advanced - Any Thoughts???
-
Sophos is generally pretty good. But we prefer Webroot, very happy with them.

The main reason I've stayed on Symantec was to just stay status quo. But it has been very quirky lately and their support is sub-par. I will also take a look at them.

Still on Symantec! That's dangerous.

I have used Sophos the past 4 years. It has been pretty good and we have never had any major outbreaks on the network. We probably only see one infected PC a year. Our users don't have admin rights and are pretty restricted so that may help more than Sophos itself.

Is Webroot generally cheaper too? I got a quote on it and it is about $1500.00 cheaper than Sophos...

Yes, AFAIK it is normally cheaper as well.

@garak0410 And Webroot is a MangoCon sponsor, so that's extra reason to look at them

We're just starting a launch of Sophos but I'm not sure what flavor. I can get back to you with our results if you'd like.
(sorry @nic)

Are you guys getting the new Intercept X?

I tried a demo of Sophos Cloud Endpoint today...loaded the client on my PC...rebooted...PC won't boot anymore...called their suipport...25 minuute wait and they just told me to uninstall it manually via a Windows Troubleshooter and then manually remove the services...did that in safe mode...PC still won't boot...preparing to rebuild my PC...
Not a good start...and I keep a clean PC, so can't imagine why installing their client would do this...
This is one of a few reasons I never moved off Symantec...don't want surprises...
-
Check out Webroot. Never had an issue with them. If you do have issues their support is fantastic.

It is my next choice...mind you, I won't judge Sophos by this but having to spend the day backing up, reinstalling windows and programs/apps after a failed demo isn't encouraging...

That's weird man. We did 12 deployments as a test and had zero issues - this was in addition to us leaving McAfee installed which it removed nicely.

Agreed it is weird, especially when I keep a clean PC but my confidence to roll this out is kind of shaken right now...

What version of Win10 are you on? I thought I read you had to use the absolute latest version of Sophos to install on 1607.
-
We Have Sophos Enterprise here. Webroot actually uses the Sophos AV Engine. It's the consumer/small biz version of Sophos.
-
We're using Sophos Cloud here. It is decent. My biggest disappointment is that the granularity of the policies is restricted in the cloud version compared to the on premise one. There have been two occasions where I had to contact support for them to set things that are options in the on premise version, but I could not.

Wow...just wow...after I had to totally rebuild/reload Windows 10 on my PC, I tried Webroot...now, my PC reboots after being logged in for 2 minutes. First, my second monitor goes dim and everything locks up. Then, it reboots. I log back in...same thing...works for 2 minutes and same thing happens.
So, I am wondering since I am now 0-2 with Sophos and Webroot, that it could be a hardware problem with my PC or most likely, it doesn't like Windows 10 1607 update.
At this point, I may just stay with Symantec another year and just put up with those hiccups...
