Probably wont make it.
I'm sad because I may be in Seattle that week, or if I am it might be to close to my other time off Still figuring it out.
What are you doing in Seattle more important than MangoCon?
CoffeeCon? HipsterCon?

@Ambarishrh For this small trip, train is the way that I would go, and then rent a car or Uber at your destination (Rochester). If you were doing a real road trip, or want to really get on the road, you can join me next year in August, 2018 (the whole month). I'm going to do about 8-9k miles or so.

I just recommended the train to someone else yesterday, too.
-
The bus from NYC to Rochester isn't glamorous but works very well.
-
I guess Greyhound has improved a lot over the years. I hear that they have power and WiFi now.

I'm trying to estimate how much it would be for me to attend. I called the Holiday Inn and they said the block is around $119 / night + taxes. It's been over 10 years since I've traveled to New York. What percentage should I estimate the hotel tax to be for Rochester?
-
It's around 10% for the Rochester area.

@Minion-Queen when will the special ML rate block of rooms be available to book at Holiday Inn?
-
They are available right now but their site still doesn't work. The code this year is GMC you can book online and do it manually or give them a call! http://mangocon.it/booknow/

Earlier the better, but you don't need loads of lead time. Amtrak has a nice app for your phone, too.
