      Hi,

My 6 TB HDD fell, its mounted on a SIIG HDD reader. Now it cannot be detected, i can only hear or feel small vibration from the HDD. The SIIG can read other SSD that i put but not the 6 TB. I can also hear a small noise in the HDD that something is dislocated inside.

I'm hoping to read the HDD as it was before as the file is behind Truecrypt partition then truecrypt container.

I have around 100 GB of important data that I stupidly forgot to backup to secondary SSD.

What are my options to recover the data and estimate cost? I'm willing to spend if needed.

Professional recovery can be quite expensive. Do you hear any scratching? In this case, unplug that drive immediately, heads my scratch on the surface.

Apart from that: That SIIG is some USB-2-SATA bridge? Have you tried to connect that drive to an regular SATA controller?

You said the data is encrypted with True crypt right? Does the system you're attempting to mount this drive to have true crypt installed?

Yah, usually when i power the SIIG the HDD will appear in comp manage and on my truecrypt. All my laptop / data are using truecrypt even the day to day process.

You can attempt to mount the drive under Linux mint or ubuntu, and from there copy any files over to your windows partition.

It would probably be wiser to use dd to clone the drive to a new one and attempt to mount it on good hardware.

If your laptop has established try connecting with that. You'll probably need to use the drive caddy to provide power if possible.
