We had to replace the whole unit about 4 years ago on a unit that was 4 years old - seems like these ACs should last more than 4 years!
One would think. The ones from my childhood definitely went far longer than that. My in laws use window units from the 80s still.

I hope they fix my AC unit today! it's been a freaking week!
Went through that about two months ago. Had to replace the whole system.

Ours wasn't quite ten years old. They say it's "hard to stop a Trane" - Yet we've managed to do it 4 times in 10 years... the last killed it.

So today's disaster, sister in law took our car, the only car big enough to hold our luggage, on a weekend trip this morning without asking us. Now we don't have a vehicle large enough to hold our luggage to drive us to the airport in under 24 hours.
Uhm,... Oops.

This is a smaller 1.5 ton wall mount unit - but damn... they just don't stand up.
The first one fried the master controller - no parts available, had to be completely replaced (not to mention the fact that the freon change required changing the closed loop too.
The unit we have now lost its main board at the two year mark - not covered of course. And this time, shut it off to clean the outside compressor, like you're suppose to. Powered it back on.. pop - blew both the outdoor and indoor controller boards, but of course couldn't tell the inside one was blown until you replaced the outside one. And the replacement inside one was bad from the factory, which took two days to figure out... ug.. hoping a new one finally arrives today and we'll be back in business.

Sitting here at the kitchen table having cold pizza for lunch, looking at my yard. Needs to be mowed again. Chore for tomorrow as I'm working on the inside today.
Had the house checked for termites - didn't see any signs, but had them out any way. Now to have them come back to address the every day insects in and just around the house. This is old pasture land, and we have had a really wet summer. Don't want to kill them all off, just in and around the house.
Getting ready for a long weekend. Just don't tell @Minion-Queen or @art_of_shred ....
