Also, today is yet another day of slowly and expensively helping a company recover both their ProxMox and TrueNAS deployments that were done on ZFS and all was lost and no vendor had any means of recovering anything.
Did they back up their PRoxMox to their TruNAS and they both went under?
no, no backups. Data was all stored on TrueNAS. TrueNAS was stored on ProxMox. "ZFS is so reliable you don't need backups" was the idea, I guess. And no hardware failed. Just ZFS failed. Pure software failure. All hardware is pristine and working great. But ZFS just lost... everything due to internal design fragility that makes it prone to data loss on reboot.
Original IT company seems to have known this and disabled all reboots. Kept them up for 2.5 years. First reboot after going live resulted in total data loss because ZFS on Linux isn't expected to reliably survive reboots in that way!
Dang, and here I thought my ghost story was scarry!

Working from home (kinda), but mostly running around making sure everything is ready for our trip tomorrow. The band has a gig in Piedmont, Alabama tomorrow at an outdoor doom festival. We're not really sure what to expect, but we are the co-headliners. At least we have t-shirts to sell.

My condolences. I'm a PC/Android guy but it doesn't matter who you are. Completely changing platforms SUCKS no matter who you are lol
On that note, the past 2 years or so, I've been getting fed up with tinkering with Android. It was the reason I fell in love with it to begin with, but Android 1.x/2.x etc. was a LONG time ago. It's evolved to something I don't recognize as "fun, innovative, interesting, empowering" anymore as I once did. I'm LITERALLY SERIOUSLY considering switching to an iPhone. Google seriously disgusts me more than M$ + Wal-Mart combined anymore these days. It's a shameful disgrace. Oh well, things change. Adapt as needed, I guess lol

Still doing it, but in between cameras right now. I still have the planetary camera, but looking to get a dedicated astrophotography camera now. Couldn't justify keeping the mirrorless camera and wanted to sell it before Black Friday gets too close. I'm holding out for a deal on the camera I'm looking to buy, though it's tempting to get it used for a nice price.

It’s difficult getting all the little settings like alarms, and the amount of notifications I want to see. That refinement takes time.
I may yet be able to avoid the move permanently, but it’s still good to see how the other side does things.

I liked it when I did it. And then regretted it when the instability and hardware problems came, and the lack of vendor protection. It's weird the things you don't think about in iOS are often the killer features. From an interface and usability standpoint, I liked the Android better.

Nice, what did you get? I have a photography YouTube channel I was a pro newspaper photographer in the 1990s so it's always been a thing that I enjoy.
I went digital with the Nikon D50 which LONG predated meaningful cameras on cell phones. Now I keep a slew of workhorse digital cameras (both mirrorless and DSLR) and I'm starting to collect important vintage CCD antiques (Nikon D3000 anyone?)
I mostly use Olympus for professional work but got a Sony for fun, too. But my plan is to get the latest Fuji in december when I'm in the states.

just wondering if i should have coffee #2 one hour earlier than normal?

Put it off. For as close to the hour as possible.
Works better IMO -

The whole vendor support thing really irks me, as some vendors support for their phones varies by model.
Luckily(?) I'm got the use of a Pixel phone and updates are good (just got Android 14 today!). -

Funny story- My girlfirend ordered a AUTPIRLF KIDS Camera and then didn't want it - originally I had her old Cannon Powershot Gen1 digital from sometime in the early 2000's but we swapped. lol Still a good camera, just not as high tech as I wanted
Going to save it for my daughter and potentially look at getting something else eventually
