I've dealt with a number of WD network storage products through the years, and they always underperform, painfully so. I can almost guarantee the PC sync will at least go so fast as the slowest choke point, while a WD NAS product, well, yeah.
setup a linux machine and got 40-50mb speeds instead of the 1-2 to the WD.

That 1-2mb/sec is actually good for a WD NAS product, I've had quite a few that would only do kb/s. Guess what I throw out asap when I see one.

Normally it rains a lot there. Here too, but these are really big storms.
