      I got it.

I ran a remote command to restart the PC and when it finally took the command and came back up the GUI was there....

      Im confused as all hell.

yeah - I'm guessing it wasn't ever actually rebooted.

that's what Im guessing too because once it rebooted for me it came up. ..

If the screen was only black - how would the user know if it was rebooted or not - especially if they don't see the BIOS screen pop.

I guess I would have had them pull the power plug, if that didn't work, then I'd have pull ever cord, becuase it's likely they didn't actually pull the power cable.

This is the type of scenario that I considered when setting the power options in Windows... I always set the power button action to shut down, so a short button push gives a graceful shutdown.

Same here. Works the majority of the time.

I only use laptops, so I have the button hibernate, lid close sleep (if on battery), lid close do nothing if plugged in, and I manually shutdown if I need to do that.

I never let anything hibernate, it causes problems in my experience. In fact. one of the first commands I run on a fresh windows machine is

      powercfg -hibernate off

I only do that on desktops. I've never rarely seen it cause problems on laptops.

You sir are a lucky man then!

I find hibernate is less problem causing than sleep. Sleep causes all sorts of random network issues. Especially, when you wake it on another network.

or same network - I had an issue where Outlook would not reconnect for some users, but not others. Just flat refused until you closed Outlook and reopened it.

and you can use that as an excuse for as long as possible, no?

It's becoming ever so clear that I really dont fit in with IT because my personality is like off the wall hyper/crazy 85% of the time where I just want to run and play and be goofy and loud like a little kid especially when im in a good mood or a horrible mood ( either way)
I owe my coworkers everyday because Im in such a great mood and dealing with people is great and they hate that I wont just be like them and play on my phone or on my computer.
Im just mostly always in a good mood and ready to go.
                        IDK.
                        Weird right?

@WrCombs Oh yeah I get that. You just need to find a way to doing some learning while your sitting still if that makes sense.

I Just cant really sit still for long periods of time.
I'm noticeably young, and like to move around. (I really got into computers\IT because of a back injury more or less) I lived as a negative/depressed written person for a long time. (5+ Years) and I finally am starting to get better at being positive.
