(apparently I wasn't expected to be in until 12:00 N - So when i walked in at 9:00 my boss was both surprised and concerned..)

Oof... If that was the case, I'd go to my office, turn out the lights and sleep for another 3 hours.

Coffee , coffee, and more coffee -
Was just talking to a 15 year old friend who thought it was crazy that anyone would put alcohol into coffee. I said it was normal and things like Irish coffee weren't uncommon here.
Then she realized that she drinks Irish coffee and has been drinking alcohol for breakfast for a long time without knowing it.
LOL

A 15 year old?
-
@Dashrender yeah, hence why she was shocked that she was having a "drink" every morning.

She thinks because she drinks "Irish Coffee" that it is the Irish Coffee with Alcohol?
That's comical! -

That's comical!I'm sure that it is. Irish coffee means with alcohol. Not Bailey's flavoured coffee.
-
@WrCombs Irish coffee in the US always has alcohol.

Especially in Ireland, lol. (Where it is probably just called coffee.)

Sure, that's what it generally means in a restaurant, etc... but it's also just as likely that they have irish coffee flavored k-cups - which I'm sure don't have alcohol in them.
-
I find it hard to believe that a 15 year old is drinking Irish Coffee.
Maybe there's some confusion on Her part - Believing that Irish Coffee is alcoholic. - They do make Creamers called "Irish Cream"
Maybe that's the confusion.Regardless, I enjoy Irish Coffee on occasion
-
Why would it be hard to believe a 15 year old in Ireland was drinking boozy coffee?

Is she in Ireland*?
From my understanding , She's in the US
I believe Ireland is one of those countries, if you can belly up to the bar, they will serve you Drinks, So it's not hard to believe at that rate.

If she is making it at home, it would only be Irish coffee if she had a bottle of Bailey's (or generic.) But I assume she gets it at a restaurant as that's what most Europeans do. Coffee in a shop is so cheap there.

Why? In half the world if an 15 year old walks up to a bar and asks for Irish coffee, she'll get alcohol. She's way over the drinking age locally. No reason for them to question it or think twice about it. And if the alcohol isn't strong enough, she's never notice. And her parents certainly don't care, her father is a distiller and is probably excited that she likes something alcoholic. And the neighbours wouldn't notice, she drinks far less than the normal 15 year old in her village.

@scottalanmiller so where is she located?
