USGS is not a bad section of the federal government to work for. I knew (casual acquaintance) a few people there in the St. Louis area. No idea if they are still there or not.
But that description is horrible.

USGS would definitely be a place I'd be more willing to look than most. But yeah.

I was going to play with shrinking a filesystem and a LVM volume only to discover XFS can't be shrunk. Back to EXT4 for the moment.

That's because shrinking a filesystem isn't really something you want to be doing in production outside of the most extremely rare circumstance.

I agree. I couldn’t think of a good reason to do it, other than wanting to see how it can be done.

after getting my ass kicked in a trainning session (well it was supposed to be a trainning session however they didnt do their part so instead turned into a rip apart the menu and criticize the software) I have a lot of work to do .

Firing squad. It’s for a replacement Citrix admin, so I don’t have much technical background about which to ask. I was curious to know what the candidate does to keep skills sharp and if they participate in any professional communities.
