What Are You Doing Right Now

Salutations... about to dive into the fallout of being out again... By my guess,.. I have put 125 gallons of fuel through the truck in the last three weeks... which equates to about 2,150 miles. And in about two weeks I'll lay down another 1,000 miles.
Ugh..

Answering todays daily question:
"What type of RAID is RAID-Z?
A. Software RAID
B. Hardware RAID
C. Not a RAID
D. Virtual RAID"Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but RAID-Z (aka RAID-5 (RAID-Z2 in 6 and Z3 is "7" I know)), can be either hardware or software and therefore the question is written wrong??
It is not RAID-5 is almost like RAID-3.... and it is software RAID.... but the question needs more information. What is also the explanation?

RAIDZ is RAID 5. RAID 3 has never had a production implementation.

RAIDZ is the marketing name of the RAID 5 implementation in ZFS. There is no hardware implementation of the ZFS subsystem. In theory, it wouldn't be illegal to do that, so someone could use the ZFS system to build a hardware device, but that would be insanely hard to manage and use a crazy amount of resources, and no one would buy it
RAIDZ is A) Software RAID.
-
Even if someone built a hardware device using ZFS, though, ZFS itself wouldn't be the name of the device but rather of the software on the device. So in a way, the reference to RAIDZ would remain one to software RAID even in the context of a theoretical hardware device.
So as long as the accepted answer was Software RAID, then the question was correct.
