They give us employee of the year here so they don't have to give raises. I'm not kidding. I told my boss if I ever get employee of the year I'm going to be very offended

Pretty much this. I've only seen two significant raises in my life and that was when I switched jobs.

We get raises and holiday bonuses here. There has never been an "employee of the year" here, but we can buy nice TVs w/ those bonuses...

We get raises and holiday bonuses here. There has never been an "employee of the year" here, but we can buy nice TVs w/ those bonuses...
That sounds fair. Here they give mostly no raises but if they do it's across the board to everyone. So the guy that does nothing gets the same raise as the guy who kills himself working. It's counter intuitive.

That's lame. We all get annual reviews, raises are based on performance. Everybody gets about the same bonus.

Scott was telling me this about employees who spend time on the phones too (granted there was a bit more to it than that )

The trouble with the raises across the board (besides what's already been said) is the lazy person who's super exited to get that raise doesn't care.
Not honestly, if they did they'd work harder to try and get a better raise.
