Getting OpenSuse Tumbleweed downloaded so that I can test with a totally different installer.

@scottalanmiller -- If you get the flashing screen issue, that's a problem that is resolved by doing updates.

I wonder if it is related to this https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Realtek_8169_driver_problem Could it be the network drivers hanging it all up? Perhaps disable the NIC in the bios and see if you're able to get past that?

 or booting with brokenmodules=r8169

Running a LiveUSB works just fine for me.

@DustinB3403 WTF It doens't even "kind of" boot here!!

@scottalanmiller said in Linux Installation Issues: @DustinB3403 WTF It doens't even "kind of" boot here!! I used UnetBootin to create my liveUSB, from there did a direct download of Mint 18 64 bit (on windows 10) Rebooted, hit ESC to get to the boot selection screen, chose my USB and was up in a minute or so.

Standard approach, should work with your system Scott. Maybe compare your UEFI/BIOS settings with @DustinB3403
