@scottalanmiller 8x per server of these 4TB 7.2K 3.5" 6Gbps NL SAS Hard Drive (Genuine Dell Enterprise) drives

So theoretically able to deliver over 1K IOPS without needing the cache to do it.

          "theoretically"

And this system hasn't been put under any real load yet, we're just staging the data migration now, and moving things over bit by bit.

Also 1000 IOPS isn't a huge number by any means.... just figured I'd post.

Compared to the stand alone servers we have now this cluster is way faster.

Yeah. Well 7.2K drives are about 80 IOPS on the low end and 150 IOPS on the high end. SAS 7.2K drives tend towards the higher end of that. If you were getting 100 IOPS per drive, that's 800 Read IOPS from the array. If you were getting 120 IOPS per drive, then it would be 960. So ~1,000 is not unreasonable, especially with the addition of a 2GB cache to speed things up.

Yes, I recognize it. But yet another reminder of how much use I would get out of having this setup there.

                    Just need to get approval.

@dafyre has threads on the setup. just too many other priorities that last couple months.

Ah, wasn't sure if you were asking for more info or just what.

Yeah it's a really useful tool. I'm really glad I've got it setup.

Yeah, that post does not look clear to even myself now.
