We have plans to add an in memory database to ML in the future when more performance is needed, as well.

It's neat because it is a rare test where basically only the kernel is different. So you really get to see Linux vs. NTKernel rather than artefacts of the entire stack.

@Tim_G said in Accelerate your backups with StarWind Virtual Tape Library and Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager:

Everything on the StarWind VTL side is great. It was quick and easy to install. I installed it on Hyper-V Server 2016, and it went flawlessly. I was able to remotely connect to and manage the VTL without issue across two sites.

The more time consuming parts was setting up SCDPM. But it's Microsoft, so you'll have that.

We'll simplify virtual images delivery (seed & back-seed) with the next update 🙂

@BRRABill said in Backups - how much does backup performance matter to you?:

All a function of time and need and money.

Only time and money, need in a business is always a function of money.

I mean all of them combine.

      You are correct.

      Need dictates the other two.

Well, the other two dictate need. Businesses aren't a "need" based thing. They have a goal: profits. Backup restore time is a discussion about time. So the technical piece gives us the time axis and that we are talking about a business gives us a cost one. That's it. The idea of "need" should never really come up in a business, businesses never need to do anything. They desire profits and all actions should reflect that. The concept of needs only serves to confuse people from the singular mission.
