Right, NIC Teaming is not a Hyper-V feature. There is almost no reason to do it that way.

Also, you don't want to use "Hyper-V" load balancing after Windows Server 2012. Starting with 2012 R2, Dynamic is the preferred algorithm. Only in super rare cases would you use any other algorithm.

      @dashrender
It's a one off issue we have. We have all 50+ Sites running of an MPLS, if something happens and we need BT to look at a line issue then we are subject to OpenReach SLA's. So while they are down most stores have monitored CCTV on a separate BB line, so we use this as a temp VPN connection to a Draytek here that is on a different sub net range to my VM infrastructure. So when they are using the VPN and the route has been changed on the Core switch zabbix can't ping the MPLS Cisco router as the route now goes through the Draytek. So I need to static the route through the MPLS router so zabbix tells me the connection is up once BT have visited.

I am not sure how this will relate,.. but I am staring at our PBX and and this page. And then I see the different port numbers - It's interesting to see so many that are not 5060

No relation. this is NAT networking 101.

All of your devices connect to pbx.ntg.co:5060
But their local outbound ports cannot all be 5060. How would the router know which devices to translate it back to.

Yup,. I get that. - well anyway. moving right along...

This is not the case at home, but has definitely been my experience when roaming around town.. it used to be worth connecting to something like StarBucks WiFi, but now - StarBucks is nearly useless, and Cellular data is way better.

Depends really. I travel enough regionally to have learned where it is better to hit WiFi and where it is better to tether to my mobile.

@fateknollogee said in Just need a basic Switch - to act as a Hub:

@DustinB3403 Why are you calling it a "hub"?

Because there is no switching taking place. The devices simply ask for a dhcp address, and go. All switches are hubs, so a basic unmanaged switch.

      Wtf are you talking about?

My guess - a confusion between switching and routing.

Probably wants a switch, but is calling it a hub, not realizing that a hub is a specific thing that sends all traffic out all ports (layer 1).

In this case, either would probably work, but hubs are limited to 10/100,...

That's true, the GBit standard prohibits hubs.

@QuixoticJeremy Are you bored again? We need a hub that can get around Ethernet standards and pass traffic at gigabit speeds!

Ha, ha ha ha, ha.... pass. lol

True: CAT6 is finicky and takes a lot more effort than CAT5e
False: You need to be certified.

@travisdh1 Yeah I saw that, which was why I was asking about it.

Just taking a quick look at the pricing, you can get those smaller Dell servers with 4 3.5" bays for less, at least in the US.

that's a main problem here in Italy. If you ask for a street price for dell or hpe you go cheeper then supermicro (and local SLA is better).

      Any further updates here?

What is the "cleanest" method available so vm's can "talk" to the host?

I ended up just staying on macvtap. I never did any further troubleshooting.

I only use this Windows 10 VM for occasional power email sessions in Outlook when organizing 5 accounts worth of email. Usually once a week.

You'll get better performance if you install the VirtIO drivers and use that instead of rtl8139. Whether you will notice it or not for that VM, idk.

Wow. I can understand dropping product lines if they're not making money, but immediately burning it all without communicating this to customers. HPE, that doesn't look good at all.

I agree, not a good sign for the health of the new company. Burning bridges with customers, presumably big ones, means that they were desperate and had to make the move rather than just doing it strategically.
