Started off in the thread about RAID arrays, thought it might make a good topic, bit of fun and a chance to win a prize.

You need to come up with concrete facts in IT, the basis of these facts must simply be

      I AM RIGHT.

You don't need proof, evidence or peer review for the fact to be accepted, just simply post it.

Each fact will then be entered into a poll where spice works members and other people will vote on them for the best fact.

The author of the best fact, will receive a gift from www.DaraIT.co.uk - Example of one will be posted below.

      EDIT: Forgot to mention.

This is limited to the world of IT/Technology. - Sorry @MattSpeller , your post is invalid 😛 Try again.

      EDIT 2:

      Submissions end Monday 7th September.

You must never reboot the servers. Constant up time is vital.

Don't install updates, Microsoft will only break the server to force you to upgrade to the latest version.

Linux is not safe for production. Too complicated and too buggy.

        Why are these facts true?

Because my experience, training and mentors have fostered a closed minded set of views in my mind and because of this I need to ignore all propaganda. I am not here to listen and learn, I am only here to teach others of the correct way of doing things.

Yes my job security might be at risk because I am not open to new ideas or learning new concepts but I'm irreplaceable here.

I don't need backups, I haven't had a drive fail on me yet.

I'm guessing they are suppose to be facts simply because you believe them to be true... because you've been using them so long how could they not be true , type facts.

Oh, I was basing it off of the example. I guess I'll have to come up with another.

You need VLANs for voice traffic to work.

Complex passwords hard for humans to remembers are better than long passphrases hard for computers to crack.

Changing your password so often you can't remember it is good.

Sending faxes are more secure than secure email because you can't make a mistake when sending a fax.

Likewise: legacy phones and fax are secure because encryption only matters for the Internet.

Going to leave this going until next Monday before I collate responses into a poll.
